Owner of The Parr’s Bank Hotel – a boutique wedding venue in Warrington, Cheshire
Based on my experience of being a bride this is what I would have told myself!
- Write a list of the 10 main ideas you would like to be incorporated into your big day and highlight your top three and make them non-negotiable. This will give you more clarity when choosing your venue / suppliers for your special day. As long as you have non-negotiables everything else is bonus!
- Don’t be afraid to speak your mind. As a venue we encourage our Bride and Grooms to communicate and give us an insight into you as a couple for us to ensure you have the perfect day. Never feel you are being a Bride/Groomzilla by picking up the phone or coming to speak to us!
- Know your budget. It is easy to get swept up in the planning on the wedding and overstretch yourself. Be honest with your suppliers and many subtle tweakments can be made to ensure you have a day you can afford. For example, the day of the weak or the time of the year!
- On the day let go. It is essential for your enjoyment that on the day you have trust in your venue and suppliers, and you let us take over for you. Otherwise, you run the risk of overstressing about details when you should be having the best day of your life.
- Make sure you eat! So many Bride and Grooms tell us everyone enjoyed the food but they cannot remember eating! Enjoy your first meal as a married couple and all the hard work you have put into your day.
